1991 Jeep Comanche For Sale

Location: Modesto Ca

180k miles

4x4 shortbed with 4.0L HO engine

I am selling my Jeep because I rarely use it.  I built this up 2 years ago and have literally taken it off road once since then and that was on a mild trail just for a test run.  It did really well and this truck has a lot of potential.  Since I built it up I have not had time to dedicate to it and have only used it for trips to Home Depot etc.  I wish I had more time to go rock crawling but I just don't and I feel like my truck is wasting away in my driveway when someone else could be enjoying it on the rocks.

1991 is the first year of the high output engine and Jeep discontinued the Comanche shortly after that.  Also a 4x4 shortbed is getting hard to find.

Here are the stats: Stock 4.0L High output, NP231 transfercase, auto transmission, bucket seats, sliding rear window

What I have done to it:

custom 3 link front suspension:  with ballistic fab joints on all ends except upper link has a Heim joint on the body end.  Lower arms are 2" OD DOM with 1/4" wall and upper link is 1.75" OD DOM with 1/4" wall.  Cross member is custom made out of 1/4 steel.  It mounts using the stock cross member mounting points and I drilled and sleeved two holes on each side rail for additional bolting.

35" Goodyear MTR's- lots of tread left

15x8 Cragar soft 8 wheels

BBCS shocks (13" travel) with external bumpstop- the front upper shock mount was removed and relocated further up to optimize wheel travel

rear shocks are Edelbrock and shock mounts do not hang below the axle

Driver side door can be removed by opening the door and lifting up.

6" Rock Krawler front coil springs

Spring over rear lift

Onboard air using a sanden a/c compressor.  This runs the front ARB and there is also a small tank in the bed of the truck.  There are air couplings under the hood and on the tank.  There is also a pressure gauge, pressure switch, oiler, dryer and a pressure relief valve

Front bumper is made of 2x2 3/16" wall square tubing and 3/16" plate.  It has a receiver hitch and recessed lights.

Trail Gear rock sliders- welded on

Front Dana 44 axle:  It is a high pinion from a Ford truck that I shortened to stock Jeep width.  Chevy outer flat top knuckles, Blue Torch Fabworks high steer arms, Warn premium hubs, new rotors, new calipers, new pads, 3/8" thick front diff cover, ARB locker, Yukon 5.13:1 gears, Yukon alloy inner and outer axle shafts, longfield u-joints, YJ brake lines, all new bearings.

Stock steering box but drag link and tie rod are 1 1/8" OD 1/4" wall DOM with Chevy tierod ends and a 3/4" heim.  Because of the high steer arms the steering is way out of harms way.  Trackbar uses a Rock Krawler bracket and self made track bar with 1 1/8" OD 1/4" wall DOM.  Track bar and drag link are parallel so there is little to no bumpsteer

Rear axle is a low pinion Dana 44 from a Jeep Wagoneer.  Yukon 5.13:1 gears and Detroit locker.  1" Wheel spacers to get the wheels in the right location.  It has a 1/8" diff cover and a diff guard (I can't remember the brand).  New brake lines and the drums were turned and the pads, springs etc are new.

It runs good and there are no known problems with it.  It doesn't overheat and there is a lot of life left in it.

The bad:

There is a salvage title on it but I am not too sure why.  I did replace the passenger fender when I bought it and I dented the drivers fender but the rest of the body does not show any reason for having a salvage title.  Also some neighborhood kids put something on the side of the truck and it ate some of the cheap paint job done by a previous owner.  There is no radio and it probably needs a T-case skid plate and a front limiting strap (rather than the brake lines acting as the limiting strap) before anyone takes it out on a serious trail.  Other than that it is ready to hit the trail.

Price:

I am asking for $4,500 for this truck.  As you can see, I have a lot more in it than that and the parts have very little use on it.  I am not in a hurry to sell the truck so I will be pretty firm on my asking price.
